I really loved the Star Wars movie Rogue One. It’s my favorite Star Wars movie. When Jyn Erso is trying to get to the satellite to transmit the Death Star plans to the rebels, people can relate to that part for various reasons. Whether it’s trying to complete a serious goal, or just get everyday tasks done in the face of too many obstacles, we’ve felt like Jyn. I even know people in independent media who feel like her, as they are trying to transmit their message to the public and it’s being blocked. Jyn had better luck; although she sacrificed herself with several others.
Finding the Truth
It’s more apparent than ever that we are in our very own Star Wars-like battle between the dark side and the rebels. There’s those who are trying very hard to cover up the truth, and those who are fighting to reveal it. It’s always been like that, but right now it feels like we’re hitting fever pitch with everything. Environmental issues, politics, medical care, and more. As things seem to be going haywire more and more, then we get to witness another layer of chaos: how the media and establishment are “handling” the interpretations of what’s happening. What’s being censored or labeled as fake news, and what’s being touted as the truth is creating plenty of conflict. So, how do you know what to believe?
Get Out of the Pigeon Hole
The key seems to be to step out of the pigeon hole, and get a better view of the big picture. Find alternative sources of information, or listen to someone who is simply showing you facts and passionately trying to clear up the corrupted messages. In addition to worldly or national issues, this concept applies to our personal issues too. It can apply to our health and wellness; to finding the truth in how we can heal.
When I was first trying to find a doctor or someone to help me figure out my thyroid/hormonal problems, I was in a very narrow pigeon hole of options and feedback. In the beginning, I wasn’t provided with much hope, let alone anything other than “we’ll just check you in 6 months and see what happens.” Maybe I’d get medicine then, but maybe I wouldn’t. Other than that, good luck dealing with your symptoms.
There’s Always Options
As I left that first endocrinologist appointment with really no help, I felt extremely alone. I was buried in that little hole of doubt. Then, I remembered getting help from a holistic health coach several years before with my irritable bowel. Yes, there were options, but I really had just scaled the basics up to that point. I just knew that eating differently had made a difference before with my belly, so maybe it could work again. Hope crept in. I met with Janet not long after that, and that’s when I realized I’d have to continue to venture off the beaten path to get help.
Just Get Started
Something like primary foods; I didn’t know anything about those yet. I didn’t know how they affect your health. I wouldn’t get into that until I met with my long-term coach Frederick and later attended the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. What I did know was that I didn’t believe the doctor when he told me that there wasn’t anything wrong with me. My doubts were high when he laughed at me as I asked if nutrition had anything to do with thyroid health. I felt a flicker of something telling me that I’d get better, but I didn’t know how to start.
But I just started. It was sloppy, drawn out, and full of mistakes, but I just went. There’s one key thing that drew me in; going more and more on the periphery. Doing the least popular, will that really work, “alternative” type of thing was what helped me. It’s what got me here, and as time goes on, some of the modalities I used to get better are becoming more popular and less doubted. Thank goodness.
Going Rogue
So, you might have to go against the mainstream expectations or standard instructions when it comes to your own challenges. Sometimes it’s scary, but mostly it’s invigorating. I have faith. I trust the situations I’m put in, and I’ll follow the breadcrumbs given to me. When you surrender, and accept the internal messages you’re getting, some pretty amazing things start happening.
So today, I encourage you to step outside of the box. Look at the big picture, and when things feel wrong in the pit of your belly, they probably are. Don’t let the “dark side” deter you. Step out in faith, and let your heart lead you. Follow your gut, and trust yourself. We are merely vessels here carrying a message.
Recognizing that and living out the message sometimes requires us to go against the grain; to go rogue.
May the force be with you.
