Relationships: A Vital Primary Food
Although some have found peace, new beginnings, or comfort in the changes that have taken place since March, there are many who have not.
One of the most important elements of primary health has been threatened and even removed: relationships. Due to social distancing, fears of infecting older relatives, and other complex factors, many have become distanced from both family and friends. Children have been brought into an online environment for schooling, and don’t get to see their friends under normal circumstances. Elderly have been isolated from loved ones, and fall to feelings of loneliness and disconnection.
Seeing this happen reminds me of how impactful personal connection truly is. Seeing others in-person, and engaging with each other on every level is truly unmatched. Eye contact, touch, and seeing each other’s facial expressions is in fact the art of the human condition. We are social creatures, and rely upon each other in not only a 1-1 basis, but in community.
I don’t know about you, but I will not let anyone or anything make this obsolete.
Oh come on? Isn’t that a little over the top to think that it would become obsolete? I don’t know…is it? Have you walked down the street lately in a busy city? Do you notice people’s body language or eye contact when you are in more populated areas? Is there a “feeling” you get in those situations? I’m pretty sensitive, and I have felt varying energies when in these circumstances. Whether I’m going to the market to get produce for our juice bar, or running into a neighbor’s office to drop off lunch, I feel something that has crept in.
Fear: The Catalyst for Disconnection and a Threat to Primary Foods
Fear. The one who has crept in, and made us second-guess divinity. The one who has infiltrated too many people’s homes and hearts over the last ten months. The fear is the catalyst for a continued path to further division and disconnection. How do we prevent this from happening when a global pandemic is here?
The first step is to do your research outside of the messages given on the television and mainstream think tanks. Step outside of that and look at numbers, data points, and information that is helpful in bringing about a well-balanced viewpoint.
Overcoming the Fear: Fueling Primary Foods
Can the virus be deadly or serious? Yes. But why and how are where you must dig. Fear is the number one offender to a strong immune system and overall healthy person. Psychologically, we can have a lot of influence over our bodies and how we physically respond to threats. Next, we must look at co-morbidities. If you or someone you know struggles with a chronic disease or health issue, then it’s more important than ever to change our lifestyles to correct those issues. Drink filtered water, move your body, eat food that comes from the earth instead of a machine, pray, and find your purpose or heart-work. Dive into it.
Working long days? Raising kids? Make it a point to turn off news and social media once your work is done, and dive into something you’ve always wanted to do. Knitting, growing food in the house, building a computer, or playing guitar. Whatever it is, just do it. Whatever gives you the feeling of being at ease and feeling like “this is what I’m supposed to do” should be coursing through your veins as much as possible right now.
Where Are We Going?
That’s really up to us. In order to make a stand for our human condition, and not allow this situation to squash our innate purposes for being here, let’s first take care of ourselves. Then, let’s take care of each other. Lastly, let’s stand for what we know is true. Are we destined to be sick and lose the very elements that make being human worth living? Should we isolate from one another indefinitely, and ignore the very nature of our condition that helps us thrive? Is our health and well-being truly in the hands of those who directly connect to profit and power?
Again, that’s really up to us.
