Affordable Wellness Gift Guide
Wellness doesn’t have to be expensive and over the top. Let’s take a look at some of the best bangs for your buck and the health of yourself and loved ones. We tend to overlook the basic tenets of good health; light or heat, hydration, minerals, cold, movement, rest, and of course; pleasure. Let’s dive into some great gifts that are not going to break the bank and help us obtain the benefits of these simple medicines we need for thyroid, hormones, and overall health.
Red Light Therapy Lamp
Winter means less sun for many people, and this creates many challenges for health and overall well-being. In comes red light therapy and the amazing portable lamps that have come along. I love this particular lamp because you can clip it to your bed, chair, or wherever is most comfortable for you to use this. Red light therapy promotes cellular health, which is the foundation for thyroid and hormone stability. Red light provides an array of benefits to your tissues, skin, muscles, and more. It also promotes better sleep due to improving serotonin levels. Check it out here.
Hot Water Bottle
With all the eating and being merry over the holidays, there’s nothing like some inexpensive hot water bottle therapy to help alleviate any aches, pains, or belly troubles. Simply place the hot water bottle over your belly and let it relax any spasms or discomfort you’re feeling after heavy meals. This is also great if you’re under the weather, or feeling cold and need some comforting warmth.
Under the Counter Water Filter
Eight years ago, we started filtering our water with this system. We’ve been pleased with the results, and they even make shower and bath filters that are wonderful for your skin and hair. Removing contaminants and harsh byproducts from our drinking and bathing water is a critical step in hormone health and overall well-being. This is the most economical water filter on the market to date, and provides excellent water quality. Read more in their product description when you tap the link above.
Trace Mineral Drops
If you struggle to eat enough fruits, vegetables, and other foods or drinks that provide healthy mineral levels, you may need to add a few drops of minerals to your glass of water each day. A supplement like this provides insurance that you’re getting a full spectrum of minerals like magnesium, boron, lithium, and other minerals that are not as prevalent in our soils. Mineral deficiency is a major factor in thyroid dysfunction and other hormonal imbalances. It’s also a factor in constipation and fatigue.
Greens That’s Also a Thyroid Supplement
One of the toughest foods for people to get enough of is greens. This particular superfood complex that has a full spectrum of nutrients for optimal health is made from greens of the land and waters. It’s also a thyroid function supplement and excellent for immune health. I love this product and the small, independent company it’s from. Their quality standards are exceptional and I have used this powder off and on for almost 10 years. It’s easy to stir the powder into a glass of orange juice or add to any smoothie.
Cold Plunge Therapy
“Ice bath therapy has been shown to be highly effective at increasing circulation, decreasing inflammation, and calming the central nervous system.” (Cold Pod) I have yet to try the cold plunge therapy myself, but I’m definitely intrigued and the price on this at-home cold plunge tub is right. This bio-hacking ritual has become increasingly popular for upping your vitality and overall health. Are you or someone you love ready to take the plunge? This is a great gift to start with.
Metabolic Renewal with 15 Minute Workouts
In 2016 I discovered Dr. Jade Teta and his fantastic Metabolic Prime workout program. His workouts are 15 minutes and provide the jolt in metabolic function and strength that everyone is looking for. He has recently created Metabolic Aftershocks and Metabolic Renewal. You can find used and new copies of his workouts at a discount here, or visit the exercise section of his website here.
Restful Sleep
One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and others is a restful night’s sleep. An epsom salt bath or magnesium bath is a great way to wind down and give the body the signal that it’s time to sleep. For me, fulfilling all the roles and duties in raising three children, running businesses, and doing all the things each day, a bath with these salts is a great way to transition to bedtime.
Chocolate Anyone?
Chocolates are a popular gift during the holiday season, but most of what we’re taking or giving to others isn’t made from real, wholesome ingredients. This is not typically a wellness gift due to the quality of the chocolate. If you’re going to indulge, then do it right and affordably. Here’s one of my favorites.
